Hal ini di sampaikan Kanit Gakkum Satlantas Polres Madiun Ipda Roni Setyawan mengatakan, penyebab kecelakaan ini karena kelalaian sopir bus beranama Suwarto (55) warga Kelurahan Kutawinangun, Tingkir, Salatiga.
Kronologi kejadian berawal saat bus tersebut melaju dari Kota Madiun menuju arah Surabaya dengan kecepatan sekitar 80 km/jam.
Sesampainya di lokasi kejadian, terdapat sebuah truk yang tiba tiba mengurangi kecepatan. Sang sopir pun reflek banting stir ke kiri untuk menghindari namun didepan terdapat kendaraan sepeda motor lalu sopir banting stir ke kanan naas bus mengalami selip dan terguling.
Menutup badan jalan sehingga mengakibatkan kemacetan karena bus tersebut melintang menghalangi jalan.
Dari total 37 penumpang dengan 3 awak bus 19 diantaranya mengalami luka rata-rata pada bagian kepala dan beberapa patah tulang dan dirawat di RSUD caruban kabupaten madiun.
